At the YMCA Preschool programs, children are encouraged to learn through play in a range of envirnments.
We utilize creative, research-based curriculums that include an appreciation for language and literature, listening, speaking, reading, and writing. In addition we incorporate physical activity to build engagement and interest.
(Ages 8-36 mos) All classes on Thursdays. Parent and child work as a team in this socialization class. Finger play, music, crafts, touch-book stories, seasonal activities and parties are included. Games, activities and puppets are introduced to enhance color and word recognition, improve listening skills and encourage child to verbalize. Balls, hoops and parachutes help to develop large motor skills. Parent will provide snack once each session. Off-site field trip may occur once each session.
Here’s a great chance for your preschooler to extend their day and have fun with friends. Children eat lunch, play, create a craft, and share stories while you enjoy some “down time.” If weather permits, we will go outside.
Your child will learn through play and socialization. Program incorporates the Y's for core values. Program will include creative play, drafts, music and educational tools. You can attend two or three days.
This class teaches your child the “fun”damentals of math. Topics include comparing and writing numbers, counting and skip counting, as well as simple addition and subtraction. This is a great way to help your child lay the foundation for math success.
In this class your child will explore the wonders of nature. We will take nature walks, learn about and grow plants, and understand the world of weather. Let your child learn how vast "MOTHER NATURE" can be.
Numbers are neat. This class will help your child recognize, write and really learn the numbers 1 through 10.
Come join us for a fun and imaginative class on fairy tales. We will read all sorts of fabulous stories, from traditional tales like The Three Little Pigs to the silly tales like The Stinky Cheese Man. The children will have the opportunity to take on the role of the characters in the story. We will bring them to life by creating costumes and then acting out the story.

On Wednesdays, children attending our licensed preschool who are enrolled in Pre-K may extend their day to 2 pm. Level II children may attend with the approval of their preschool teacher. This program includes a hot lunch, physical games, art activities, and lots of fun with friends. Our own preschool teachers run this program. A maximum of 20 children with pre-registration required.
This is a great class for you and your growing infant/toddler to meet new friends, socialize and learn about each other. We will discover new textures, read stories, and interact through play.
The mind of a child is the perfect place for poetry to grow. This class allows children to play with language and use it in new and interesting ways. The children will be exposed to poetry by simply reading it aloud. We will be emphasizing on the rhyming and the sounds of the words. Poetry allows children to use their imagination and to grow as critical thinkers.
Teachers lead your child in a fun, exciting experience. Children have fun learning through creative play, crafts, music and educational tools. We also expose your child to a physical curriculum that includes swimming, tumbling and ice skating.
Here's a break for Mom or Dad, a chance for their child to be in a stumulating and developmental atmosphere. This is a great introduction to preschool classes. This mini-preschool class will include circle time, projects and activities, music, snack and many opportrunities for free play. Puppets and interactive stories will be presented to help children learn to express themselves. Parent attendance is optional; parent will provide snack once each session. Great for children 2 1/2 - 3 years old.
Rhythm and Rhymes with Dr. Seuss
Music, stories, art, and more all centered around Dr. Seuss stories! Come have fun as a family.
Come one, come all. Come big, come small. The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go. Be ready to learn, get ready to play. From The Glunk That Got Thunk to The Thinks You Can Think, we will explore the adventurous world of Seuss and make a big stink. Think left and think right and think low and think high. Your child loves to discover because kids are natural-born scientists. Let's build the curiosity for the world they live in with this experimentation class. Children 3 1/2 - 6yrs will use all their senses to learn in this hands on class.
This class is for children under age 3 and a parent. Help your little one learn and have fun with music and movement. This class is designed around singing and dancing using a variety of exciting rhythm instruments and imaginative props.

Your child will explore some of their favorite topics such as weather, space, animals and more! This class is held during lunch time so please bring a sack lunch.
