Water Fitness

YMCA water fitness programs allow participants to experience the benefits of water resistance to improve cardiovascular ability, strength, balance and flexibility. Programs are held in both shallow and deep water.

All Floats In The Pool

Bring your float into the pool and join us for some relaxation and fun!

Adult (18+ yrs)

Adult Swim Workout

Structured swim workout run by USA triathlete coach Dave Polkow.

Aqua Boot Camp

Led by qualified instructors, this high intensity class combines a cardiovascular and muscle workout using water resistance to build up strength and tone muscles. Participants will burn calories while building strength and flexibility. It is low impact on the joints because the water will provide cushion. It is the perfect workout for people who don't like to sweat, people with limited movement, arthritis or an injury. Aqua Boot Camp increases intensity to work muscles to fatigue.

Aqua Kickboxing

Calling all Water Warriors! The aqua kickboxing class is ideal for those looking to spice up everyday fitness routines. Join us for heart-pumping, muscle building exercises that will leave you saying, "I didn't even know I had muscles there!"

Aquatic Tai Ji (Tai Chi)

A fun, low-stress way to exercise and relax your whole body. Tai Ji and Chi Gong movements (ancient Chinese forms of exercise designed to enhance health) are done in warm, standing-height water to allow for strain-free, full-range, integrated muscle movements to aid balance and increase body control. No swimming skills required.

Arthritis Aquatics (AFYAP)

The Arthritis Foundation YMCA Aquatic Program (AFYAP) is a collaborative effort of two national organizations. This is a recreational exercise program with a wellness concept for people with arthritis to manage symptoms, maintain independence and enjoy life. This program is taught in a group setting with activities and exercises to encourage self care, provide social interaction, improve muscular strength, endurance, and flexibility.

Challenge of the Great Lakes

Do you think you can swim cross one of the Great Lakes?  How about all of them?  Come and join the Challenge of the Great Lakes.  Simply sign up at the front desk.  Write down the number of laps you swim on a daily basis and we will keep track of them.  This is a free activity for member.

Deep Water Aerobics

Let the buoyancy of the water keep you afloat and its resistance give you a workout. This deep water class is an excellent cardiovascular and toning workout. It is ideal for those whose joints cannot tolerate an impact class.

Fit-N-Flex

Fit and Flex is a great way to get a cardio and muscle flexibility workout at the same time in the pool.  A good class for those who want a great heart pumping workout!

Joint Efforts

Joint Efforts is designed to increase range of motion and build muscle tone in those with joint issues or anyone who wants a non-impact exercise class. 

Low Impact Aquacise

This class uses slow, precise movements in the water. It is good for anyone with injuries, arthritis, MS or other physical challenges. The class focuses on range of motion using low impact exercise.

MS Aquacize Certified

MS Society certified program for water fitness.

Power Splash

Power Splash is a high intensity cardio water workout!  It is a calorie busting heart pumping splashtastic way to spend your time!

Prenatal Water Workout

For women in all stages of pregnancy, this class will focus on circulation, overall health and fitness. Each class will be adapted to fit the needs of participants.

Sunrise Splash

An energizing combination of cardiovascular work and toning. This class is held mainly in the shallow water, however, will include deep water work. Modifications will be available for those not comfortable with deep water.

Swimnastics

A harder workout than the Aqua Aerobics class and Silver Splash class. This is more intense aerobic workout using the water for resistance. This class makes use of the deep end of the pool. The ability to swim safely in the deep end is a prerequisite for this class. This class is taught by YMCA Aqua Fitness staff.

Therapeutic Aquacise

This class uses slow, precise movements in the water. It is good for anyone with injuries, arthritis, MS or other physical challenges.  This class is taught by a certified Therapist.
 

Water Aerobics

If a land class causes stress on your joints, try this shallow and deep water, exercise class. Join the growing number of people who have discovered the fun and value of water exercise. Must be comfortable in deep water.

Water Fitness

This is an excellent cardiovascular workout with minimal strain on your joints. Increased muscle tone, flexibility and range of motion are the primary benefits of all water exercise programs.

Water In Motion

Water in Motion is the newest aqua exercise workout that provides low impact, high energy challenge for participants of all ages, skill and fitness level. Jump in and make a splash with this dynamic cardiovascular workout that tones and tapers the entire body. With land equivalent intensity, fantastic sing-along quality music, and dynamic instructors, enjoy the pure fun of this 60 minute water extravaganza. Enroll in the program and "catch the wave"!

SilverSneakers Splash

SilverSneakers Splash is an aerobic in the water designed by the popular SilverSneakers Program.  This class provides the combined benefits of an aerobic and a no-impact workout.  It uses the water as resistance to increase muscle tone.  Taught by SilverSneakers Splash certified teachers.
