This class is Spring Training for athletes interested in playing baseball or softball. Leagues start soon, so the Y is offering a program to develop fundamentals and skills necessary for the up-coming season. Each week will be a new skill such as hitting, pitching, throwing, in fielding, out fielding, and base running. All you need is a glove and the other equipment will be provided.
Basketball All Levels
Calling all women: come learn the fundamentals of basketball! Learn and develop shooting, dribbling, and defensive skills in an exciting and low-key environment. You will also learn basic game strategies as you participate in actual basketball games. This class is primarily for women over 40, but we will make exceptions

This coed instructional class will focus on teaching the basics of dribbling, passing, and shooting for beginners as well as more experienced players. Rim Crashers basketball focuses on developing teamwork and sportsmanship. Age-appropriate equipment will be used.
Schools Out Winter Basketball Camp
Come one, come all, it is basketball week at the Lattof YMCA December 26-30. School's out and the baskeballs are in. We will work on skills, but also have a variety of games, tournaments, an contests. During the week we will have contests including; a free throw tournament, hot shot basketball, knockout tournament, and a 3 on 3 tournamnet.
T-shifts and prizes will be included.
This is a program that Magid, Joy of the Game, and the McCormick Tribune YMCA are hosting. It is a basketball clinic monthly.
Our program focuses on fundamentals and incorporating sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership and fun. Our clinics, held during the first half of the season will focus on both offensive and defensive skills. Players will work together within their age groups to develop solid fundamentals, learning the rules of the game, ball handling, movement on the court, working as a team member, shooting, rebounding, and player-to-player defense. The second half of the season teams will be formed and games will be played. However, we will still be highly focused on skill development.
There are no tryouts, and everyone plays equally with our fun and exciting format. All clinic sessions will be directed by our YMCA basketball staff. Our program begin in mid fall and will continue through mid-spring. Players and teams will be scheduled for a one hour clinic/practice/or games within the times listed.
Boxing All Levels
This class teaches real boxing techniques, punches and footwork. Participants will use hand wraps, boxing gloves, focus mitts, and heavy bags for punching and kicking drills. Other conditioning exercises may include sprints, jumping rope, medicine ball drills, and lower/upper back strengthening. Supplies are not included. Contact Fitness Director for details.

Is a high-intensity cardio spinning workout performed at your own level. Set to music, the work is done on a stationary bike built to look like a road racing bicycle. Classes offered for both the beginner and advanced level.
What is Group Ride? Everyone finishes first in Group Ride! Roll over hills, chase the pack, climb mountains and spin your way to burning calories and strengthening your body. This cycling program is geared for anyone who can ride a bike. Motivating music, awesome instructors, and an inspiring group environment lets you Ride On!
Come and experience our indoor cycling class on our stationary bikes. Highly trained instructors will challenge all fitness levels to reach their potential in this heart-rate-based workout. A water bottle is necessary.
The indoor triathlon will include a 10 minute swim, 20 minute bike (cycle) and 15 minute run (treadmill). There will be 10-minute transition times allowed. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd for Men and Women. Men's and women's age division categories. Must be 16 years of age or older to participate.
The best of cycling training followed by a fast-paced yoga workout.
This class will be 30-45 minutes of cycling and 15-30 minutes of working your CORE muscles. This class is excellent for the beginner to intermediate cyclist as well as those who want to add to their workout. Bike shorts are recommended. A towel and a full water bottle are required.
Following the 2010 tour profile, this 75 minute class will take you through the 20 stages in 20 weeks. Stages can be followed virtually with the profile on DVD along with guidance from instructor. Come and join us for the challenge!

We will pick a different variation of the game to play each week including Doctor, Cageball, and of course, basic dodgeball. If you like to dodge, duck , dip and dive, then this class is for you.
This up-tempo class that is fun and exciting will satisfy your child's craving for something different. Your child will become quicker, faster and more agile on their feet while learning the importance of teamwork.

Come one come all, families and friends, members or non members, it is dodge ball time. During our October special event we will split up into teams and play a tournament style of games. We will form teams of 5-8 players depending on the numbers and each team is guaranteed at least three games.
This fun and exciting up-tempo class is guaranteed to satisfy your son's or daughter's cravings. This class is a combination of unconventional games that consists of dodgeball, handball, and much more. After taking this class your child will become quicker on their feet while learning teamwork.
This is new league will be great for all those looking for a fun indoor activity during the winter. Teams are comprised of six players. You can sign up as a team or an individual. Firday Night Lights Floor Hockey
This program is for the boys and girls who love floor hockey. Participants will learn skills and play floor hockey every week.. If you love floor hockey then this is the perfect program for you! All participants will receive T-shirt and medal in this program. Maximum 20 kids will be taken for each age group. First two weeks practice and skill building. The next five weeks games against fellow participants.
This class is the perfect way to introduce your child to the wonderful world of hockey. A safe and fun way for your beginning hockey star to learn the skills of the game. The YMCA youth hockey league is a no check league and is designed to teach the great game of hockey to boys and girls ages 6-15. The emphasis is on improving the player's skills and having fun! All games and practices are held at the Elmhurst YMCA. Practice during the week and games on Saturday or Sunday.
Frisbee All Levels
This class will include play ultimate frisbee while working on your cardiovascular fitness. You will learn how to play ultimate frisbee while have a great time with your peers. This class may meet outside weather permitting.
Golf All Levels
Play the innovative game of disc golf. Learn to throw, drive and putt your disc for the lowest score. This class is for everyone who wants to have fun.
Ready to get back IN THE SWING of things prior to the 2010 golf season? This class will incorporate functional movements with the FreeMotion towers, stability balls, bands, & stretching exercises to improve your golf game. Class will also help with prevention of injuries & flexibility.
Want to improve your golf game without swinging a club? Would you like to prepare for golf season to avoid injuries? If you are serious about your game and want to get to the next level physically, come and join this program. we will evaluate your golf physical fitness weaknesses and systematically take you through golf-specific exercises to enhance your mobility, stability, power, balance, and work on the infamous X-factor for your golf game. Take this class and see how preseason preparation can help even the experienced golfer. Don't allow your body to hold you back from playing your best round of golf.
Each participant will learn how to hold the golf club, what each golf club represents, golf etiquette, how to chip, drive and putt. The last day of the class will be on a mini course set up in the gym.
Gymnastics All Levels
This technique class will incorporate ballet barre work, exercise done in the center, and combinations done traveling across floor. We will work on creating long lines, pointed toes, strong cores, confident performance skills, and improve leaps and turns. The focus will be giving gymnasts a clear understanding of dance technique and helping them apply this knowledge to their gymnastic training.
Need some extra TUMBLE time? Here’s your chance to work on your skills outside of class. Parents must accompany children under 6. Receipt necessary for entry on open gym days.
These programs are only for children who are enrolled in the Buehler licensed preschool program. Children must be age 3 and fully potty trained.

This class is an introduction to the basics of tumbling and will build upon already developed skills. We will continue to increase coordination, strength, and flexibility. Tumblers can learn increasingly challenging moves as they grow. A fun way to burn energy and gain self confidence through accomplishments. Handball All Levels
Handball has been called The Perfect Game for many reasons. Handball is a lifetime sport that develops great hand/eye coordination, footwork, agility, and quick thinking. In this class we focus on developing solid fundamentals.
In the team class players learn the more advanced skills of the game. Strategy, shot selection and mechanics, pre-shoot positioning, off hand development, offensive and defensive techniques are all focused on. These players have an opportunity to compete on a local as well as a national and world level as they demonstrate the YMCA core values both on and off the court.
Team Handball is a mix of soccer, hockey, and basketball. The class will consist of learning the rules and skills needed to play this fast paced sport.

Inline Skating All Levels
This class will be split into halves. The first half will be spent skateboarding in our skate park. The second half will be dedicated towards climbing at our rock climbing wall. Basically, you're getting the best of both worlds in the adventure realm.
Martial Arts All Levels
Learn the basics of mixed martial arts/kickboxing, including hands-on "live" training with the instructor.
A Korean are of self-defense and physical conditioning in which self-confidence and self-discipline are developed.
Participants train in the traditional Korean art of kicking and punching. Contact sparring and self-defense skills are taught as well as falling, rolling, tripping, sweeping and throwing techniques. Classes also include striking techniques of Muay Thai Kickboxing and Western Boxing, the takedowns of Freestyle Wrestling and the grappling techniques of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to make for a well-rounded style. In this class all adult students of all ranks train together.
Aikido is a Japanese martial art that is an effective form of self defense for students of all ages and fitness levels. You will learn how to avoid conflicts and defend yourself against a variety of attacks such as grabs, punches, kicks, and chokes. Aikido technique practice also improves balance, coordination, and flexibility.
Calling all Water Warriors! The aqua kickboxing class is ideal for those looking to spice up everyday fitness routines. Join us for heart-pumping, muscle building exercises that will leave you saying, "I didn't even know I had muscles there!"

Tai Ji and Chi Gong movements (ancient Chinese forms of exercise designed to enhance health) are done in warm, standing-height water to allow for strain-free, full-range, integrated muscle movements to aid balance and increase body control. Hapkido means the way of harmony and power. It is an effective Korean martial art consisting of joint locks and pressure point control techniques. Students will also learn legal and street-safe techniques to handle a variety of real world situations. Hapkido is also a way of staying healthy and fit.
Hardcore kickboxing using the kickboxing pads, punching bags along with other equipment, this class will help you increase your speed, agility and strength.
Judo literally means the gentle way. This ancient martial art makes use of the opponent's strength to overcome him. The main techniques of this art are tripping, sweeping, throwing and both stand up and ground grappling. Little Warriors Martial Arts class is a unique style class for kids which includes basic fitness, kicks, punches and form training primarily from the art of Tae Kwondo. Each child will learn on their own individual level of understanding.

This may be the best option for those of you who can't commit to a certain day and time for league play. Each week players are assigned a different opponent. Players contact their opponent to schedule a date and time to play that is convenient for both. Call the Member Services desk to reserve a court. Rock Climbing All Levels
This programs combines climbing, team building and Nintendo Wii. Join us for an exciting combination of fun and fitness.
Participants will combine the skills they may have learned in Pike’s Tikes, and learn more of the skills needed to become a successful climber and belayer. Focus will be on knot tying,equipment use, set-up, and climbing commands.The group will learn how to safely climb up the high ropes course in this class, as well as other fun activities such as Giant’s Ladder and Pamper Pole. Climbers will set personal climbing goals to achieve by the end of the session.
Participants will learn the skills needed to become a successful climber and belayer.Focus will be on knot tying, equipment use and set-up, climbing communication/ commands and techniques used for proper belaying. All different types of difficult activities and routes will be a challenging part to a great course offering.
The kids will learn all the basics of rock climbing for the first part of class, and than spend the 2nd half of class in the pool learning the basics of swimming, all while having FUN!
Children climb while parents learn to belay for the first 45 minutes. Entourage your child as you work together learning how to climb. For the second half, children will have a YMCA swim lesson.

Children must wear gym shoes, and must be dropped off and picked up in the gym before and after class.
This class is for participants who are beginners or who have mastered the basic rock climbing techniques and are looking to meet new people as well as continue to develop their climbing skills. Participants will learn to rappel, belay, use routes and much more.

This is our rock climbing class for kids who are interested in participating in a new adventure. Children will learn the basics of climbing and climbing safety. All participants will wear a harness and helmet. The class will focus on bouldering, which is climbingthe wall horizontally, and be introduced into climbing the wall vertically as they progress throughout the program.

Rockin Rockies is a certification class for children ages 12-14 that teaches climbing in a fun and safe setting, and is a great next class from Andes Ascenders. This class will educate climbers on intermediate climbing techniques, advanced gear setup advanced communication skills, and safety. Participants will be certified in how to use the auto belay. system and to manually belay with an instructor by the end of the session. Climbers will also set personal goals to achieve by the end of the session. We will also use a variety of other obstacles throughout the session. Rockin Rockies exposes kids to the art of climbing while encouraging continued involvement and enjoyment of the sport.

Buehler's Wonderful World of Sports
This class is perfect for those parents looking to get away for a quick 45 minute workout before or after a good lunch. Kids in this class will play miscellaneous gym games while laughing, learning, and make young friends. Activities will include basketball, soccer, T-ball, climbing and more.
This class consists of sports-specific drills, plyometrics and conditioning concepts from a variety of sports. The goal of this class is to provide a comprehensive conditioning program for the recreational athlete as well as provide supplemental training to the collegiate, high school and middle school athlete. This class is not recommended for any person with known health concerns or recent injuries as established by the AHA and ACSM guidelines.

Parent and Child Gym and Swim Classes
Enjoy time with your child in the preschool gym and the pool! Spend part of the class playing with your child on our preschool gym apparatus under the direction of Y staff member. The other part of class is in our parent/child swim class, helping your child, under the coaching of a swim instructor, to learn how to swim, have fun and be safe in the water.
Parent and tot work as a team in this socialization class. Finger play, music, crafts, touch-book stories, seasonal activities and parties are included. Games, activities and puppets are introduced to enhance color and word recognition, improve listening skills and encourage child to verbalize. Balls, hoops and parachutes help us to develop large motor skills. Parent will provide snack once each session. Off-site field trip may occur once each session.
Want to enjoy a night out? Catch the latest movie or go to that restaurant you've always wanted to try? Without the kids? Here's your opportunity. Swimming All Levels
Make those miles count and join our club! Members have 1 year to swim the 50 miles. Upon completion, you will receive a club T-shirt. Seniors and youth members will not have a time limit.
For those who already swim and want to improve their strokes, this class will work on stroke techniques and training tips that will make your strokes more efficient and increase your stamina. The class is taught by 2 professionally certified instructors who enjoy swimming as a life sport.

This swim lesson class is only for the participants of the Foglia YMCA Preschool Program. It will be held once a week following their Preschool class here at Foglia YMCA. The class lesson will be 30-minutes long and utilize the YMCA Swim Lesson Program. Registration will be completed twice a year during Fall I and Winter 1 registration. The Swim lessons will run for Fall I and Fall II (Session 1), and then from Winter 1, Spring I and until Preschool is over in May (Session 2).

American Red Cross Lifeguard Training
American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor
This is an American Red Cross class. To train instructor candidates to teach American Red Cross water safety, including the Basic Water Rescue and Personal Water Safety courses, six levels of Learn-to-Swim, three levels of Preschool Aquatics and two levels of Parent and Child Aquatics. Fundamentals of Instructor Training is included with this course. Participants need to be 16 to take this course and be able to swim 25 yards of the 4 competitive strokes as well as elementary backstroke and sidestroke.
Aquatic Games: Bullfrong and Tadpoles
Aquatic Games is a fun brand new class for children to learn and play different water games such as Sharks and Minnows, Water Polo, Snorkeling, and Water Volleyball. The goal of the class is to learn how to be fit in the water through different aquatic activities while having fun! Each week we will be focusing on a different water activity. Snorkel kit is included in the cost of the class. Participants must be Guppy level or higher.
Boy Scout/Girl Scout Badge Program

Come to the pool for some quality bonding time with your family. Build a boat underneath the water and then watch it rise and float. Minimum age of 12 years old.
Do you think you can swim cross one of the Great Lakes? How about all of them? Come and join the Challenge of the Great Lakes. Simply sign up at the front desk. Write down the number of laps you swim on a daily basis and we will keep track of them. This is a free activity for member.
The kids will learn all the basics of rock climbing for the first part of class, and than spend the 2nd half of class in the pool learning the basics of swimming, all while having FUN!
Children climb while parents learn to belay for the first 45 minutes. Entourage your child as you work together learning how to climb. For the second half, children will have a YMCA swim lesson.
The Leaning Tower YMCA Conqueror's Swim Program is FREE to members and is for individuals who are developmentally or physically challenged. Individuals must be able to gain entrance to the pool without the use of a lift or ramp.
Can't make any of our swim times? Have special needs that need to be addressed? Create your own class! This class is a hybrid of private lessons and group lessons if there are four people who want to do a class at a different day and time then when we normally offer classes, fill out the Create Your Own Class Request Form and turn it in at the front desk.
Groups must have between 4 and 6 people. We can do swimming lessons, water fitness groups and almost any special training needs (triathlon, Boy Scouts, etc.). All classes will be 1 hour long and are sold in groups of 1 or 5 lessons.

This program is designed for home-schooled students, kindergarten-5th grade who meet once a week during the school year.
Our Progressive swim lessons are now going to be offered on Friday mornings for children who are home schooled. The same great program, just at a different time! Lessons available for ALL ages!
The indoor triathlon will include a 10 minute swim, 20 minute bike (cycle) and 15 minute run (treadmill). There will be 10-minute transition times allowed. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd for Men and Women. Men's and women's age division categories. Must be 16 years of age or older to participate.

These classes will allow your children the opportunity to explore the great Y'd world. They will develop their minds with our an art class, develop their bodies in with active games with our field, climbing wall and swimming pool. Little Learners With Gym and Swim
This class is an introduction to school for your preschooler with enrichment activities including word and letter recognition, themed activities and school time concept. Lunch Time Wee Folks with Swim
Chrildren bring their lunch or a snack to eat for the first half hour and should come to class with thier suit on. After we eat we will do an art activity, go to the preschool gym and then finish out the day with a swim lesson. Parents will pick up their child at the pool deck when the class is over.
Masters Swimming is a great way to get the most out of your laps in the pool. Don't let the term Masters scare you. All levels of swimmers are welcome to join. Whether you are interested in competition or just getting in shape, we can help you with your stroke. Swimming with other people led by a trained coach will help you stay motivated. The coach will also help you improve your endurance and stroke technique.
Beat those school day blues! On the days CPS and St. Margaret Mary's is not in attendance the High Ridge YMCA Aquatic Center will host a FUN alternative to child care. Each day off will have a different aquatic theme.
Please bring a sack lunch and snack with your child as well as an extra change of clothes and an extra towel. Class includes any other supplies needed, except for goggles!
Parent and Child Gym and Swim Classes
Enjoy time with your child in the preschool gym and the pool! Spend part of the class playing with your child on our preschool gym apparatus under the direction of Y staff member. The other part of class is in our parent/child swim class, helping your child, under the coaching of a swim instructor, to learn how to swim, have fun and be safe in the water.
Need some extra time to do holiday shopping this year? Drop your children off at the YMCA and enjoy a stress free evening to complete all those pesky little chores in time for the holidays. How do I find the right level for my child? Our progressive swim lessons start each child at their beginning level. To begin we invite parents and children to come to Placement Day! During placement day children will be evaluated and given a recommend level to begin their swim lesson journey.

Synchronized Swimming challenges the creativity of swimmer by combining the movements of dance with swimming skills. Students work to improve stroke form and endurance while gaining confidence and poise. Swimmers may participate in performances and competitions and must be able to swim at a Fish level or higher.
Teen Swim Lessons are specifically geared towards teens ages 12 to 15 years old. These classes are swimming lessons just more fun! Teen will practice and learn skills beginning at their ability level while making friends and learning life-long water safety skills, games and activities!
Children ages 3 to 6 are invited for this fun organized splash time for kids. A great way to break up your Wednesday afternoon and give the kids some extra exercise time! Each week we will introduce different water toys to climb on and have fun with! Expect everything from noodle races to rafting! Come join the fun! Although this is not an organized swim lesson, the instructor in the water is a certified swim instructor and as always, your children's safety is most important as they will be guarded at all times by a YMCA certified Lifeguard.
Triathalon Training - Stroke Technique
Are you looking to refine your swimming strokes and/or endurance?
Participants will work on stroke technique and endurance during this course. This will be just the thing to help bring down your swim time for upcoming triathalons this summer. You do not need to be training for a triathlon to take this course.
This is a great class for children to participate in structured gym and pool activities. Participants will spend 45 minutes in the gym and 30 minutes in the pool. Children must wear their swimsuits under their clothes. Parents will pick their child up from the pool. All swimming abilities welcome.
Water Safety Presentations: this series of presentations is to help educate children and adults about the dangers in and around aquatic environments. The objective is to give people of all ages the tools to prevent accidents from happening, the knowledge to identify and respond to an aquatic emergency and tips on how to stay safe.
Bring your family on in for some Water Volleyball in the pool.
This class will start with an art activity, then go on to the preschool gym, and then finish the morning out with a swim lesson. Bring your child to class in a swimsuit. Make sure clothing and bags are well marked. Please pick up your child from the pool deck.

Children will do fun activities in the Mochel room, then go play in the preschool gym or outside if nice, and then finish the class off with a swimming lesson. You can opt to do the class without the swim lesson for a smaller fee.
Our youth swim lessons include polliwog through guppy levels. The YMCA Youth Swim Lesson program is comprised of five components: Personal safety, personal growth, stroke development, water games and sports, and rescue. The Y advocates a student-centered learning approach with developmentally-appropriate activities.
The program utilizes series—or sustained—swimming to develop skills, strength and endurance; peer grouping in which children are grouped by age as well as ability; instructional flotation devices to aid skill development; and games as a tool to enhance learning at all levels.
T-Ball All Levels

Taiji (T'ai Chi) All Levels
A fun, low-stress way to exercise and relax your whole body. Tai Ji and Chi Gong movements (ancient Chinese forms of exercise designed to enhance health) are done in warm, standing-height water to allow for strain-free, full-range, integrated muscle movements to aid balance and increase body control. No swimming skills required.
Qigong (Chi-Kung) is used as a healing art. This class will include a warm-up to loosen the joints followed by a series of standing exercises with simple Tai Chi choreography performed in a slow, flowing, continuous movement pattern. The youth Volleyball League will help female athletes that were not able to play volleyball for a club program this year. The league will be for female’s ages 12 to 18 years of age. The goal of the league will be to help train players during the off season of their grammar school and high school programs. During this time, they will learn fundamentals and advanced volleyball skills and compete amongst other teams in the YMCA Volleyball league. Practices will begin with once a week in March and then move to twice a week in April, competitions on Saturdays and Sunday’s. Game and practice Shirts provided. Calling all Girls! Improve your volleyball skills in this new volleyball class. This class will focus on offensive and defensive concepts.
Clinics are opened to High School Freshman-Seniors who are currently not on a club volleyball team. During the 2 hour clinics athletes will learn skills to help improve their volleyball techniques. These classes will go for 6 weeks, once a week; each week working on different volleyball skills.

Water Polo All Levels
Played with two nets and a ball, it is the oldest continuous Olympic sports. The objectives of the class will be learning the skills, rules and playing techniques of Water Polo. Water polo is a great way to stay fit while having fun in the water! Participants must be Minnow level or higher.
Arthritis Exercise All Levels
The Arthritis Foundation YMCA Aquatic Program (AFYAP) is a collaborative effort of two national organizations. This is a recreational exercise program with a wellness concept for people with arthritis to manage symptoms, maintain independence and enjoy life. This program is taught in a group setting with activities and exercises to encourage self care, provide social interaction, improve muscular strength, endurance, and flexibility.
Joint Efforts is designed to increase range of motion and build muscle tone in those with joint issues or anyone who wants a non-impact exercise class.
This class uses slow, precise movements in the water. It is good for anyone with injuries, arthritis, MS or other physical challenges. The class focuses on range of motion using low impact exercise.
Twinges in the Hinges is an Arthritis Foundation-approved class designed for active older adults to enhance muscle development and joint movement, as well as provide a fun and effective way to exercise.
Fitness Boot Camp All Levels
Led by qualified instructors, this high intensity class combines a cardiovascular and muscle workout using water resistance to build up strength and tone muscles. Participants will burn calories while building strength and flexibility. It is low impact on the joints because the water will provide cushion. It is the perfect workout for people who don't like to sweat, people with limited movement, arthritis or an injury. Aqua Boot Camp increases intensity to work muscles to fatigue.
Get back into pre-baby shape and spend time with your baby while doing various resistance training exercises and cardio activities. Class will be outside weather permitting. Strollers are necessary. Children 6 months to 4 years old are welcome to attend.

Water Fitness All Levels
Structured swim workout run by USA triathlete coach Dave Polkow.
Led by qualified instructors, this high intensity class combines a cardiovascular and muscle workout using water resistance to build up strength and tone muscles. Participants will burn calories while building strength and flexibility. It is low impact on the joints because the water will provide cushion. It is the perfect workout for people who don't like to sweat, people with limited movement, arthritis or an injury. Aqua Boot Camp increases intensity to work muscles to fatigue.
Calling all Water Warriors! The aqua kickboxing class is ideal for those looking to spice up everyday fitness routines. Join us for heart-pumping, muscle building exercises that will leave you saying, "I didn't even know I had muscles there!"
A fun, low-stress way to exercise and relax your whole body. Tai Ji and Chi Gong movements (ancient Chinese forms of exercise designed to enhance health) are done in warm, standing-height water to allow for strain-free, full-range, integrated muscle movements to aid balance and increase body control. No swimming skills required.
The Arthritis Foundation YMCA Aquatic Program (AFYAP) is a collaborative effort of two national organizations. This is a recreational exercise program with a wellness concept for people with arthritis to manage symptoms, maintain independence and enjoy life. This program is taught in a group setting with activities and exercises to encourage self care, provide social interaction, improve muscular strength, endurance, and flexibility.
Do you think you can swim cross one of the Great Lakes? How about all of them? Come and join the Challenge of the Great Lakes. Simply sign up at the front desk. Write down the number of laps you swim on a daily basis and we will keep track of them. This is a free activity for member.
Can't make any of our swim times? Have special needs that need to be addressed? Create your own class! This class is a hybrid of private lessons and group lessons if there are four people who want to do a class at a different day and time then when we normally offer classes, fill out the Create Your Own Class Request Form and turn it in at the front desk.
Groups must have between 4 and 6 people. We can do swimming lessons, water fitness groups and almost any special training needs (triathlon, Boy Scouts, etc.). All classes will be 1 hour long and are sold in groups of 1 or 5 lessons.

A company class is for dancers who have taken one or more dance classes and know the basic terminology and technique in the styles of tap, jazz, and ballet. Each company class has an average age that most students are but it is also based on ability and the teacher will evaluate and place the student in the level that best fits their maturity level, abilities, and background.As dancers progress through the system they will be able to apply for the opportunity to student teach a class which will earn them a discount on their classes. Cooking All Levels
Take a culinary journey all around the world. Each week we will explore the culture and food of a different country from around the world. This class will feed both your brain and your tummy. The last week of class each child will bring home a cookbook with all of the recipes, of the food they made, in it. Bring a container to bring home any leftovers.
This class is designed for your child to learn how to prepare some fun snacks that will keep them busy and their bellies full until dinner time. We will review nutritional information, discuss hygiene as well as proper preparation and clean up.
Children can enjoy more than just creating a new dish. Our time together will include a story and cooking experience related to a daily theme. Please alert instructor to any food allergies.
Kids! This is an excuse to play with your food! This class uses food as our avenue for art! All crafts will be peanut free. Learn about nutrition and healthy snacks!

Storytime All Levels

Here is a chance for your child to express their creativity through music, art, dramatic play, and movement. Each week will have a theme related to the time of year. Every class will end with 30 minutes of creative movement in our Gymnastics Center. Min/Max: 5/10. (Downstairs Craft Room, Pick Up in Gymnastics Center) If your child is in the licensed preschool program, for an added fee of $20 per session, we will provide lunch and transfer the child to the program.
In this class we will focus on learning letters and numbers. We will use crafts and activities to reinforce what we learn. This is a great class to help your child get ready for preschool.
This class will allow the children to study one author for eight weeks. The children will recognize and learn the author’s writing techniques and how the story is told through illustration. Books and art will forever be connected. Come see and be a detective!
Learn lots of fun facts about animals and where they live. Read about them and make a craft relating to what you learned.
Let your child express themselves through art in this creative class. Children will have an opportunity to paint, draw and sculpt. This is a fun and interactive class where their imagination can run wild! Materials included.
Come for a night of fun and relaxation after your first days of being back at school. We will unwind with a movie, games and a light snack.
Come hear a story right before bed. You can even come to class in your pajamas. We will then do a craft to go along with the story. If there are younger siblings who would like to hear the story, they are welcome to come and stay with a parent.

(Parent/Child Class) This program is a great chance to lead children with their parents through different activities using music and actions to get a jump on motor skills. The participants will stretch, move, dance and much more. We will also include tumbling with the mats and balance beams, ride scooters and play with the parachute. Dave DiNaso and the Traveling World of Snakes
An up-close, live and extremely interactive experience with reptiles & amphibians from around the world. Come in and meet a 14 ft. python, a 5 ft. iguana, a 50 lb. African tortoise! Over a dozen animals that you would never get to see this close up anywhere else. Entertaining & educational, Dave has done over 7,000 shows over 14 years without any incidents. No poisonous reptiles!! Registration deadline March 15. This is a family event so please have at least one adult with children. Children 2 & under are free. All other children & adults must register & pay fee.

Looking for your Kindergartner to do something adventurous in the afternoon? Come spend the afternoon at the YMCA! We will have lunch and an afternoon of activities. There will be field games, gym games, crafts, science experiments, food art, and more! Rock Climbing will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays; swimming on Mondays and Wednesdays. Help your children ease their transition from a half-day of school to a full day of fun! Pack a lunch. Drop off at 12:00 and pick up at 3:30 in the Adventure Center.

(Ages 8-36 mos) All classes on Thursdays. Parent and child work as a team in this socialization class. Finger play, music, crafts, touch-book stories, seasonal activities and parties are included. Games, activities and puppets are introduced to enhance color and word recognition, improve listening skills and encourage child to verbalize. Balls, hoops and parachutes help to develop large motor skills. Parent will provide snack once each session. Off-site field trip may occur once each session.

Introductory to our Movers & Shakers class. Your child will explore with climbers, balls, blocks and props while developing fine and gross motor skills!
This is a great class for you and your growing infant/toddler to meet new friends, socialize and learn about each other. We will discover new textures, read stories, and interact through play.
The mind of a child is the perfect place for poetry to grow. This class allows children to play with language and use it in new and interesting ways. The children will be exposed to poetry by simply reading it aloud. We will be emphasizing on the rhyming and the sounds of the words. Poetry allows children to use their imagination and to grow as critical thinkers.
Here's a break for Mom or Dad, a chance for their child to be in a stumulating and developmental atmosphere. This is a great introduction to preschool classes. This mini-preschool class will include circle time, projects and activities, music, snack and many opportrunities for free play. Puppets and interactive stories will be presented to help children learn to express themselves. Parent attendance is optional; parent will provide snack once each session. Pretty as a Princess Tea Party
(Age 3-6) Come dressed as your favorite princess or borrow one of our princess dresses! We will play princess games, create a beautiful princess crown, enjoy tea and/or lemonade, heart shaped sandwiches and decorate a princess cookie. Registration deadline is Wednesday, April 19.
Come dressed as your favorite Princess and bring along a parent, grandparent or another adult friend to this magical night. The night will be filled with all your favorite "Princess songs", tea and snacks and a Princess themed craft.

Here's an exciting enrichment program where your school aged child will learn the Spanish language through fun, exciting & engaging activities! Got the winter time blues? Come on out for some games and a movie. We will play games in the preschool gym and then snuggle up in our sleeping bags and blankets to watch a kid friendly movie. We will have a light snack to go with our movie. Come dressed in your pajamas and bring a blanket or sleeping bag.
Children will do fun activities in the Mochel room, then go play in the preschool gym or outside if nice, and then finish the class off with a swimming lesson. You can opt to do the class without the swim lesson for a smaller fee.

Short on time? This class is for you! Come experience 20 minutes each of cardio, strength training and core exercises all wrapped up in one class. Classes will feature (but are not limited to) a variety of formats such as step, kickboxing, weights, BOSU, resistance bands, calisthenics, boot camp drills, mats, medicine balls, stretching etc.
A mature Hi/Low Aerobic spin for our active, seasoned adults. Enjoy the music, the movement and other members as you renew your strength and condition your heart.
Get a jump-start in the morning. This aerobic class offers easy to follow, low impact patterns coupled with flexibility and resistance training.
Whatever age you are ... this modified class is designed as a low-to-moderate-intensity cardiovascular, flexibility, balance and muscle conditioning workout. This class is also ideal for an after-injury transitional class.
Led by qualified instructors, this high intensity class combines a cardiovascular and muscle workout using water resistance to build up strength and tone muscles. Participants will burn calories while building strength and flexibility. It is low impact on the joints because the water will provide cushion. It is the perfect workout for people who don't like to sweat, people with limited movement, arthritis or an injury. Aqua Boot Camp increases intensity to work muscles to fatigue.

A boot camp for kids that is led by one of our Personal Trainers. Kids go through stations that include agility, strength, flexibility, aerobic training and fun. This class is developed so that kids experience good exercise while having fun, helping them to feel good about themselves.
Bosu means "both sides up". In this balance/core training class, expect to be challenged with exciting new movement patterns and exercises on a Bosu, and be prepared to leave with a new appreciation for what "total body workout" really means.
Uniquely mixes cardio boxing combinations and core training into a fat torching, muscle sculpting interval workout guaranteed to whip you into shape using a class format that's both fun and challenging!
This class teaches real boxing techniques, punches and footwork. Participants will use hand wraps, boxing gloves, focus mitts, and heavy bags for punching and kicking drills. Energy Balancing
We will learn some simple dance steps and by focusing on releasing tension and stress, you will better loosen up your body and mind and awaken your senses again! No previous dance experience necessary. Be sure to bring your sneakers and loose comfortable clothing.
Meditation for Relaxation and Release
We will start with some easy yoga stretches and gentle poses then we will learn deep relaxation techniques that allow for your muscles and whole body to find release and peace. Meditation calms the mind, reduces muscle tension and relaxes the nervous system. Please bring a blanket or something comfortable and warm to lie on and a yoga mat, if you have one.

Qigong (Chi-Kung) is used as a healing art. This class will include a warm-up to loosen the joints followed by a series of standing exercises with simple Tai Chi choreography performed in a slow, flowing, continuous movement pattern. Studies show that with regular practice, Tai Chi can relieve stress, ease pain and stiffness, elevate mood, lower blood pressure, aid in fall prevention and provide other health benefits.
