Infant (0-1 yrs)

Parents with new infants can find services at our YMCAs that can offer structured opportunities to strengthen the parent-child connection or help with child care needs. We have programs in aquatics, fitness and child care to help new parents. We also offer social services to new parents with infants within Chicagoland.

Progressive Swim Lessons Infant (0-1 yrs)

Inia

(Ages 13-18 months) A parent must be in the water with each child. The class focuses on water orientation and adjustment through songs and games.

Kipper

(Ages 9-12 months) A parent must be in the water with each child. The class focuses on water orientation and adjustment through songs and games.

Perch

(Ages 19-36 months) A parent must be in the water with each child. The class focuses on water orientation and adjustment through songs and games.

Shrimp

(Ages 6-8 months) A parent must be in the water with each child. The class focuses on water orientation and adjustment through songs and games.

Swimming Infant (0-1 yrs)

Parent and Child Preschool Swim Lessons

(Ages 6 months to 3 years) Promotes water enrichment and aquatic-readiness activities for children and their parents or other trusted adults.

Shrimp

(Ages 6-8 months) A parent must be in the water with each child. The class focuses on water orientation and adjustment through songs and games.

Running \ Walking Clubs Infant (0-1 yrs)

Buggy Brigade

Come on and join us with your child and their stroller as we take a walks to local park, enjoy time with other parents while your children play. On the last day of class we will have a picnic here at the Y with everyone bringing a dish to share.

Water Fitness Infant (0-1 yrs)

You and Me Baby Aqua Exercise

This class is for prenatal and postpartum moms. It will help you tone, strengthen, increase flexibility, boost your energy and aid in delivery as well as postpartum recovery. Exercise right up to delivery and return as soon as possible after. Moms with infants under five months are welcome to bring the baby into the pool during class. No swimming skills are needed.

Storytime Infant (0-1 yrs)

Parent 'N Tot Playtime

(Ages 8-36 mos)  All classes on Thursdays.  Parent and child work as a team in this socialization class.  Finger play, music, crafts, touch-book stories, seasonal activities and parties are included.  Games, activities and puppets are introduced to enhance color and word recognition, improve listening skills and encourage child to verbalize.  Balls, hoops and parachutes help to develop large motor skills.  Parent will provide snack once each session.  Off-site field trip may occur once each session.

Cardio Infant (0-1 yrs)

Cardio Circuit with Baby/Toddler

What a great class for Babies/Toddlers who want to have fun and work out with mom/dad. With mom/dad's help, this class teaches children the basics of listening, following directions & socializing in a classroom setting. This is still a full hour workout for parents with a warm up, stretch, alternating intervals of hi/low impact cardio and strength training, cool down, stretch and abdominals. Note: Use of baby carrier recommended for babies not yet walking. Toys and snacks are welcome into class.

Moms In Motion (Pre/Post Natal)

Moms In Motion is an accredited program for pregnant and post partum women of all ages and exercise levels. This class consists of stretching, strength training, cardiovascular fitness, balance and postural changes. All participants must have a medical release signed by their physician. Informational articles will also be provided.

Strength and Toning Infant (0-1 yrs)
