These programs will help you refine your skills, improve your understanding and challenge you to grow. Our staff are continually trained to run high-quality programs. In our 150 year history, we have invented numerous sports, created innovative methods to teach and strive to continuously incorporate values into our programs.

Cycling (indoor) Intermediate

Cycle Blast!

Are you READY!?! This class is an intense cycling (spinning) class...a blast of cycling routines to get your heart rate up and before you know it, you're done and ready for the next class.

Gymnastics Intermediate

Flip Flops and More

Girls will learn advanced tumbling skills with concentration on the flip flop. Students must have at least a level 3 competency in tumbling or have been moved up from Beginning Tumbling, to take this class.

Gymnastics Level 2 Girls

Should have had some instruction in gymnastics and be able to pass a Level 1 evaluation. Start learning backbends, kickovers, pullovers on bars, and basic vault and beam skills.

Gymnatics Level 3 Girls

Must be able to pass Level 2 evaluation. Girls will begin learning walkovers, handsprings, skills on the high bar, more advanced vault skills and start taking their floor skills to the beam.

Intermediate Boys Gymnastics

Some experience required. Continues to build on skills learned in Beginner Boys and continues to build the strength and endurance required for gymnastics.

Intermediate Gymnastics

Builds on skills learned in Beginner and continues to build the strength and endurance required for gymnastics.

Rollers

Children will begin work on more advanced skills. Classes develop flexibility, strength, and strong technical skills for a first-time gymnast. Children progress at their own pace in a fun, safe environment.

Swingers

Swingers build on the skills and elements of Rollers. This level complements and rounds out the developmental information needed to give gymnasts a sound background. In this class they will learn all the elements that will carry over and add to everything that gymnasts will learn.

Ice Skating Intermediate

Beta Skate Lessons

This is a intermediate level skate lesson on our outdoor rink.  Must be able to do backward stroking and a snowplow stop.

Inline Skating Intermediate

Inline Skate Class

This class is designed for the beginner through intermediate skater. Our skate instructors will teach both flat land, rail, and ramp techniques in these exciting classes. 

Martial Arts Intermediate

Combat Strike (Intermediate Level)

Class will consist of intense kickboxing combinations and combat style movements. Class will use body bars, dumb bells, and bands combined with intense intervals. Come kick your cardio and muscle conditioning into high gear!

Intermediate Tae Kwon Do

Prerequisite: Green Belt or High Green Belt - This class is the next step for students who have perfected their foundation techniques and have progressed to an intermediate skill level. Form, self-defense and Korean language skills are still practiced. Students continue to hone their skills in all areas but a greater emphasis is placed on fitness and personal development. Contact sparring and ground grappling are also introduced at this level.

Karate Clinic

This clinic is offered to all enrolled participants who are yellow belt and up. Once a month we will be rotating between a kata (forms) clinic and kumite (sparring) clinic. This will be a class where time will be spent on technique for a specific kata and more technical (timing, distancing, power, and control) aspects of kumite. Check with your instructor to see what will be covered on a specific month.

Rock Climbing Intermediate

Mountain Trekkers

This is a class for the climber who has had at least a year of climbing under his/her belt. We will undertake the daunting task of route climbing. We will also learn knot tying and other advanced rock climbing procedures.

Rock Solid

Our Rock Solid Class is fro those climbers who have successfully completed our belayer skills development and belay test. Climbers will earn advanced foot placements, body movements, route climbing, as well as an intro to lead climbing, quickdraws, lead belaying, and rope management. Climbers in this program have an opportunity to participate on our Youth Demo Team.

Skateboarding Intermediate

Intermediate/Advance Skateboard

This is class is for the mature skater who knows the ups and downs of skating. Improve your stunts and tricks. Master the flip turn. Dominate the fun box and be able to call it your very own. Safety is still vitally important in this class and we'll continue to cover this crucial aspect of this exhilarating sport. Helmets and knee pads are required to skate.

Skateboard Class

Designed for the beginner through intermediate skater. Our skate instructors will teach both flat land, rail, and ramp techniques in these exciting classes.

Soccer Intermediate

Y-Winners Soccer Leagues

Come enjoy this slightly more competitive soccer league that focuses on the fundamentals while having FUN! This co-ed league continues to improve the participants soccer skills while getting some additional time on the soccer field. All games will be held on Saturdays with times varying. There will be one weeknight practice held per week. SHIN GUARDS REQUIRED. We are always looking for volunteer coaches. League details, schedule and rules vary by center, contact your YMCA for information.

Progressive Swim Lessons Intermediate

Eel

(Ages 3-5 years) This class is designed for the child who has advanced from Pike Advanced or can swim independently with a flotation device on their front, back and side the length of the pool and is able to do a front and back float for 10 seconds.

Guppy

To enter this level, children should be able to float on front and back for 30 seconds without a float belt, paddle for 25 yards without a float belt on the front, back and side, jump in without assistance, and be comfortable in deep water.

Polliwog I (Beginner)

This is the beginning level class for school-age children. This class helps children get acquainted with the pool through the use of flotation devices and basic swimming skills like floating and front paddle stroke. By the end of this level children should be able to front paddle the length of the pool unassisted.

Polliwog II (Advanced)

The beginning level for school-age children. Children should already know how to float on their back and front, paddle on their front, back and side with a belt and 10 feet without a belt.

Ray

(Ages 3-5 years) This class is for the child who has advanced from the Eel class or who can swim the length of the pool with one float on the belt on their front, back and side, and can swim 15 feet on their front, back and side without a flotation device.

Starfish

(Ages 3-5 years) This class is designed for the child who has advanced from the Ray class or who can swim a length of the pool on their front, back and side without a flotation device.

Swimming Intermediate

Adult Intermediate Swim Lessons

This class is designed for adult swimmers who are comfortable in deeper water, can independently front and backfloat as well as swim half the length of the pool.

Adult Stroke Improvement

ave you been swimming forever but don't know if you are doing it correctly? Want to work on improving your stroke's effectiveness?  Feel like you are doing something wrong but can't figure out what it is? Stroke Improvement is for those adults who know how to swim but want to perfect their strokes and become a more efficient swimmer.

Adult Swim Club

Need some support in your quest to get back in the pool?  Feel like some days your stroke is "off" and can't figure out what you are doing differently?  Looking for some good workouts to do in the pool?  Come try  Adult Swim Club!  This group is for beginners to master swimmers looking to be apart of a friendly aquatic orientated fitness group at the High Ridge YMCA.

Eel

(Ages 3-5 years) This class is designed for the child who has advanced from Pike Advanced or can swim independently with a flotation device on their front, back and side the length of the pool and is able to do a front and back float for 10 seconds.

Eel II

This program is by instructor recommendation only.  Rotary breathing, front crawl, throwing assists, PFDs, finning, surface dives, kneeling dives, retrieving objects from bottom of the pool will be covered.

Fish Club

Children in this club must be able to swim at least two lengths of front crawl, backstroke and breast stroke. This club will teach butterfly and enhance your child's ability to swim competitively .

Guard Start

Guard Start: Lifeguarding Tomorrow is an exciting junior lifeguard class for 11-14 year olds. Participants will build a foundation of knowledge, swimming, and leadership skills to help in future completion of a lifeguard class. Participants must be able to swim 25 yards front crawl and breaststroke, and be comfortable in deep water.

Guppy

To enter this level, children should be able to float on front and back for 30 seconds without a float belt, paddle for 25 yards without a float belt on the front, back and side, jump in without assistance, and be comfortable in deep water.

Guppy (Intermediate)

For children who can swim, as a paddle, 10 yards on their front, back and side without flotation.

Junior Lifeguard

The Junior Lifeguard class is a great way to introduce lifesaving skills to young people.  The class is taught by a variety of veteran lifeguard staff.  Topics covered include water safety, basic water rescues, CPR and Rescue Breathing and first aid. Participants must be able to swim at a Minnow level or above.

Neptunes - Swim Team

The Lattof Neptunes is a competitive swim team with an emphasis on the YMCA's four core values of Honesty, Respect, Responsibility and Caring. The swimmers are taught true team spirit as well as goal setting and personal achievement. The Fall/Winter Swim Team season will run through next March, and all participants must be Lattof YMCA members.

Swimmers must have passed the equivalent of the Ray or Guppy swim level. The swim team is broken into color groups based on age and skill level. The coaching staff will determine the best fit for the swimmer.

Polliwog I (Beginner)

This is the beginning level class for school-age children. Children in this club must be able to swim at least four lengths of front crawl, backstroke and breaststroke. This club will teach butterfly and enhance your child's ability to swim competitively.

Starfish

(Ages 3-5 years) This class is designed for the child who has advanced from the Ray class or who can swim a length of the pool on their front, back and side without a flotation device.

Water Polo Intermediate

Water Polo Club (Intermediate to Advanced)

Prerequisite: must be at least Guppy level. Participants will learn the skills and rules of water polo through drills and exercises led by our YMCA instructors and former collegiate water polo players. Registration is required.

Pilates Intermediate

Pilates II

Must have been in Pilates I for at least one year.

Pilates MAT II (Intermediate Level)

Time to take Pilates to the next level? For those who have done MAT I or have a basic foundation of Pilates, this full-body workout focuses on strengthening your core as well as increasing flexibility. This class moves at a faster pace with more challenging exercises. Props such as foam rollers, resistance rings and bands will be incorporated.

Pilates Reformer II

Delivers the Pilates experience in a fun and balanced fitness workout that is perfect for intermediate to advanced participants. An effective fusion of beginning Reformer exercises with traditional weight exercises, teaching participants to work from their core and gain new body awareness and definition.

Reformer 2

For the person with a minimum of 6 months experience on the Reformer.

Yoga Intermediate

Hot Yoga

A quick-paced yoga class, stressing flexibility and balance in a full body workout.  Prior yoga experience strongly recommended.

Yoga Essentials (Level II)

This class is for students who have taken Yoga Fundamentals or have had recent experience in yoga. Instructors build on the foundation set by Yoga Fundamentals by offering more challenging options and techniques, and by addressing select elements in greater detail.

Ballet Intermediate

Dance Company

Company dance classes are designed for dancers with some dance experience. Dancers will focus on many styles of dance such as tap, ballet, jazz, and more. We will also focus on technique, posture, and dance terminology. The objective is to have students participate in a few convention/competitions during the dance year for an additional fee. Students will need to audition to take these classes. This is a year-round program.

Tap and Ballet

Development dance class that will include skills for tap and ballet. Class will cover a warm up, tap and then ballet. Recommend that dancers have gone through Ballet I or Creative Movement.

Jazz Intermediate

Dance Combination Jazz and Tap

Jazz dancing is a form of dance that showcases a dancer's individual style and originality. To excel in jazz, dancers need a strong background in ballet as it encourages grace and balance. Tap is an exciting form of dance in which dancers wear special shoes equipped with metal taps. Tap dancers use their feet like drums to create rhythmic patterns and timely beats. No experience is necessary for Beginning Combination students. Intermediate Combination students must have one year of dance experience.

Dance Company

Company dance classes are designed for dancers with some dance experience. Dancers will focus on many styles of dance such as tap, ballet, jazz, and more. Piano Intermediate

Preschool Piano I and II

Piano I: An introduction to the piano for preschoolers. Piano II: Continuing keyboard instruction for preschoolers and their parents/caregivers.

Tabata Training

The Tabata protocol is a high-intensity training regimen that produces remarkable results.  A Tabata workout is an interval training cycle of 20 seconds of maximum intensity exercise, followed by 10 seconds of rest, repeated without pause 8 times for a total of four minutes.  Class is designed for intermediate to advanced exercisers.

Mind and Body Intermediate

Dynamic Balance

This class will incorporate a variety of balance-challenging exercises using the bosu trainer, stability balls, balance discs and balance pods.  This class will improve your strength, posture, balance and flexibility.  Intermediate/advanced fitness level recommended.

Pilates II

Must have been in Pilates I for at least one year.

Strength and Toning Intermediate

Co-Ed Strength Conditioning

(Intermediate to Advanced) Learn the use of different reps and sets, learn about equipment in our Fitness Center for an effective advanced workout.

Core Synergy (Intermediate)

Learn a series of core progressions that blend traditional isolated ab and back exercises with non-traditional stabilization challenges. Using the unique properties of the Bosu Balance Trainer, Exercise Ball, etc., will add special emphasis on the core. Cardio stabilization drills included.

Kettle Bells II

This express class gives you the most for your workout. Workout with Kettlebells to reach your fitness goals. For those that have taken a prior Kettlebells class.

Step Circuit

This high-energy interval training class alternates intermediate/advanced step choreography with intensive muscle conditioning for a total-body workout.  A great class for the intermediate to advanced stepper!
