Basketball Preschool (1-5 yrs)

Floor and Ice Hockey Preschool (1-5 yrs)
Come play in the YMCA's indoor hockey arena. This class teaches the skills of hockey in a safe environment with age appropriate equipment so the children have fun and enjoy playing at the same time. Stick handling, passing and team play is learned through innovative games and activities. All Equipment is provided. Shin guards are recommended.
An introduction to hockey for both boys and girls between the ages of 4 yrs - 6 yrs.
Golf Preschool (1-5 yrs)
This class is a parent participation program for young children who have never played golf before. Clubs will be provided.
Each participant will learn how to hold the golf club, what each golf club represents, golf etiquette, how to chip, drive and putt. The last day of the class will be on a mini course set up in the gym.
Kids will learn the basic fundamentals of golf: putt, chip and hit with their irons. SNAG is a program run in conjunction with the Hook A Kid on Golf Foundation.
Gymnastics Preschool (1-5 yrs)
For the Preschooler who is more advanced in skill, strength, flexibility and social skills. Must have special permission and have taken a minimum of four sessions of Tiny Tykes classes. Children will use all gymnastics equipment.
(Parent/Child Class) This is a very basic class to introduce children to tumbling. Parents or caregivers participate in this class with their child. This class helps develop strength, flexibility, coordination and body awareness.
These programs are only for children who are enrolled in the Buehler licensed preschool program. Children must be age 3 and fully potty trained.

Parent and Child Toddlercize Play Day
This class provides a special time for parents and their toddlers to spend quality time together. We also provide experiences to help your child develop physical and social skills.
A perfect combination of dance and tumbling designed for the preschooler. Fundamentals of dance are taught during a graceful warm up and cool down. Then we switch to balls, ribbons and hoops for the last half of class.
This class is an introduction to the basics of tumbling and will build upon already developed skills. We will continue to increase coordination, strength, and flexibility. Tumblers can learn increasingly challenging moves as they grow. A fun way to burn energy and gain self confidence through accomplishments. Make sure to wear comfortable clothes to move around in and leotards welcome!

Martial Arts Preschool (1-5 yrs)
This slower paced Tae Kwon Do class will have a strong emphasis on self-discipline, coordination and concentration... and, of course, fun. Students will learn Korean terminology, kicking and punching and basic self-defense. This class also provides a good foundation for their entry into the Beginners Tae Kwon Do program.
Parent & Child Program. Tae Kwon Do is great fun for kids...and a great way to give kids a head start on life. Instructors teach the positive benefits of self-discipline and confidence, develop coordination and increase strength and flexibility.
Rock Climbing Preschool (1-5 yrs)
Children climb while parents learn to belay for the first 45 minutes. Entourage your child as you work together learning how to climb. For the second half, children will have a YMCA swim lesson.
This class is for tykes and a parent who are ready to rock climb. Encourage your child as you work together learning to climb.
We're not backing down in this hour of power. Half the time we will be spent in the gym playing games, the other half spent scaling our rock climbing wall. This is a great class for children to run around,learn new sports, as well as to get some time on the rock wall. Participants will play various activities in the gym for the first half of the class, such as soccer, kickball and floor hockey, and then spend the 2nd half of the class learning all the basic climbing techniques and rules of the rock wall. Children must wear gym shoes, and must be dropped off and picked up in the gym before and after class.
Our newest Rock Climbing class is for those who are interested in participating in a new adventure. Children will learn the basics of climbing and climbing safety. All participants will wear a harness and helmet. The class will focus on bouldering which is climbing the wall horizontally and be introduced into climbing the wall vertically as they progress throughout the program.
This class is an absolute, pure delight. The bare basics of rock climbing will be introduced to your young wall crawler. Self esteem and confidence are established in this 45 minutes of power.

Want to get your kids out of the house and active? Fit ‘N Fun is a perfect class for your little man or woman. This class will focus on fun while also learning about the basics of several sports. Half of the class will concentrate on being fit and will consist of stretching and fitness activities, which will include scooters, relay races and maybe even the moon bounce. The other half of the class will include activities such as soccer, basketball, kickball and more.

Parent and Child Gym and Swim Classes
Enjoy time with your child in the preschool gym and the pool! Spend part of the class playing with your child on our preschool gym apparatus under the direction of Y staff member. The other part of class is in our parent/child swim class, helping your child, under the coaching of a swim instructor, to learn how to swim, have fun and be safe in the water.
Parent and tot work as a team in this socialization class. Finger play, music, crafts, touch-book stories, seasonal activities and parties are included. Games, activities and puppets are introduced to enhance color and word recognition, improve listening skills and encourage child to verbalize. Balls, hoops and parachutes help us to develop large motor skills. Parent will provide snack once each session. Off-site field trip may occur once each session.
If your toddlers have a lot of energy, come help us tire them out with the YMCA staff.The parents and the staff will play different sports, P.E. games, and tumbling that involve so many different activities all while having fun and being safe. The class lesson will be 30-minutes long and utilize the YMCA Swim Lesson Program. Registration will be completed twice a year during Fall I and Winter 1 registration. The Swim lessons will run for Fall I and Fall II (Session 1), and then from Winter 1, Spring I and until Preschool is over in May (Session 2).

Chrildren bring their lunch or a snack to eat for the first half hour and should come to class with thier suit on. These Pike swim lesson are being held at the Double Tree Suites 2111 Butterfield Road, Downers Grove, IL 60515. This class is designed for the beginning swimmer who cannot swim independently without the assistance of the instructor, and cannot float on his or her back.
How do I find the right level for my child? Our progressive swim lessons start each child at their beginning level. To begin we invite parents and children to come to Placement Day! During placement day children will be evaluated and given a recommend level to begin their swim lesson journey.

This class is designed for the child who is not ready to be separated from the parent, however is ready to work on the Pike swim skills. This is a great class to bridge between parent/child and the pike class.
Children ages 3 to 6 are invited for this fun organized splash time for kids. A great way to break up your Wednesday afternoon and give the kids some extra exercise time! Each week we will introduce different water toys to climb on and have fun with! Expect everything from noodle races to rafting! Come join the fun! Although this is not an organized swim lesson, the instructor in the water is a certified swim instructor and as always, your children's safety is most important as they will be guarded at all times by a YMCA certified Lifeguard.
This is a great class for children to participate in structured gym and pool activities. Participants will spend 45 minutes in the gym and 30 minutes in the pool. Children must wear their swimsuits under their clothes. Parents will pick their child up from the pool. All swimming abilities welcome.
This class will start with an art activity, then go on to the preschool gym, and then finish the morning out with a swim lesson. Bring your child to class in a swimsuit. Make sure clothing and bags are well marked. Please pick up your child from the pool deck.
Children will do fun activities in the Mochel room, then go play in the preschool gym or outside if nice, and then finish the class off with a swimming lesson. You can opt to do the class without the swim lesson for a smaller fee.
T-Ball Preschool (1-5 yrs)
Have you played basketball and feel like you want to learn more or get even better? Then Future All-Stars is the class for you. Come join us to learn more than just the fundamentals with the expert YMCA staff. We will learn the correct techniques to shooting, as well as running offensive and defensive plays, all in a fun and game like atmosphere. This is a follow up or pre course to our YMCA basketball leagues.

Ballet Preschool (1-5 yrs)
Bring your little ballerina to begin her dancing experience. We will focus on body awareness and movement. Your little ballerina will learn the fundamentals of leaps, posture and the six positions even Joeffrey Prima Ballerinas had to start with.

This class is designed to work on motor skills, coordination, games and socialization through an introduction of simple ballet. Great class to help this age group move into introductory Ballet, Tap, Jazz or Hip Hop.
This class is for beginners and young continuing ballerinas. Ballet is the foundation of all dance and provides the dancer with the skills to perform all forms of dance. Children will also gain self-confidence and a positive self-esteem while acquiring basic rhythmic skills. Ballet slippers may be required.

Learn how to make quick and easy snacks without even turning on a stove! Children will compile a cookbook with their favorite recipes to share with family and friends. The very best thing about this class is you get to eat everything you make! Please let instructor know if your child has any food allergies before registering for the class.

In this class we will focus on learning letters and numbers. We will use crafts and activities to reinforce what we learn. This is a great class to help your child get ready for preschool.

Drop your little ones off for their own little New Year's Eve party. We will have snacks, play games, and ring in the New Year at noon.

Parents, do you need a few hours in the middle of the week to accomplish some errands? Consider dropping your child off at ‘Mazing Kids on Wednesday afternoons. Our staff will watch your child while you cross off some of your to-do list! Art and stories will be explored during this time. Snacks will be provided. Please be aware that staff are not allowed to change diapers. Potty-trained children are preferred; however, we will accept children that are not potty trained.

We will read all sorts of fabulous stories, from traditional tales like The Three Little Pigs to the silly tales like The Stinky Cheese Man. The children will have the opportunity to take on the role of the characters in the story. We will bring them to life by creating costumes and then acting out the story.
Join us for an imaginative class with two of our favorite stories: The Mitten and Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Child will bring to life characters and scenery from the story through role playing and helpingto make costumes. Performances will be scheduled at the end of the session. (Ages 8-36 mos) All classes on Thursdays. Parent and child work as a team in this socialization class. Finger play, music, crafts, touch-book stories, seasonal activities and parties are included. Games, activities and puppets are introduced to enhance color and word recognition, improve listening skills and encourage child to verbalize. Balls, hoops and parachutes help to develop large motor skills. Parent will provide snack once each session. Off-site field trip may occur once each session.

Parents Night Out is for children ages 4-12.
You want to learn how to be an “art detective”? This class is for you. Your child will be encouraged to explore the connection between favorite children’s books and art activities. With so many wonderful children’s books out there, we feel our selection is just the tip of the iceberg. We hope to inspire your child to look more closely at illustrations and to make the connection between art and literature as they continue their reading adventures.
Join us the first Friday of the month after family swim and hear a story and have a little snack. Come dressed in your pj's. This is free for members!
Introductory to our Movers & Shakers class. Your child will explore with climbers, balls, blocks and props while developing fine and gross motor skills!
This is a great class for you and your growing infant/toddler to meet new friends, socialize and learn about each other. We will discover new textures, read stories, and interact through play.
The mind of a child is the perfect place for poetry to grow. This class allows children to play with language and use it in new and interesting ways. The children will be exposed to poetry by simply reading it aloud. We will be emphasizing on the rhyming and the sounds of the words. Poetry allows children to use their imagination and to grow as critical thinkers.
Here's a break for Mom or Dad, a chance for their child to be in a stumulating and developmental atmosphere. This is a great introduction to preschool classes. This mini-preschool class will include circle time, projects and activities, music, snack and many opportrunities for free play. Puppets and interactive stories will be presented to help children learn to express themselves. Parent attendance is optional; parent will provide snack once each session. Great for children 2 1/2 - 3 years old.
Pretty as a Princess Tea Party
(Age 3-6) Come dressed as your favorite princess or borrow one of our princess dresses! We will play princess games, create a beautiful princess crown, enjoy tea and/or lemonade, heart shaped sandwiches and decorate a princess cookie. Registration deadline is Wednesday, April 19.

Wacky Wonders is all about discovering the wonders of science. Children will have fun creating the ultimate kid concoctions.
Children will do fun activities in the Mochel room, then go play in the preschool gym or outside if nice, and then finish the class off with a swimming lesson. You can opt to do the class without the swim lesson for a smaller fee.
