Learning the basic skills before playing in a league can help a child's confidence and prepare them to play. These classes offer an early chance for young kids to learn the basics and improve their coordination. It can be challenging for kids to learn both the rules of a new sport and improve their skills, which is why these programs have a deliberate approach to ensure long-term success. Some of these programs will cover multiple sports (such as Sports of All Sorts), while others will focus on a single sport. It is beneficial for kids to have some variety to discover what they enjoy.
Preschool (1-5 yrs) Sports Samplers and Skills

This is a fun introductory class where the kids are introduced to the simple fundamentals of a sport. Your child will learn some of the basic skills of an individual sport each week, than will play mini games based on that specific sport all while being safe and having fun. Buehler's Wonderful World of Sports
This class is perfect for those parents looking to get away for a quick 45 minute workout before or after a good lunch. Kids in this class will play miscellaneous gym games while laughing, learning, and make young friends. Activities will include basketball, soccer, T-ball, climbing and more.
Want to get your kids out of the house and active? Fit ‘N Fun is a perfect class for your little man or woman. This class will focus on fun while also learning about the basics of several sports. Half of the class will concentrate on being fit and will consist of stretching and fitness activities, which will include scooters, relay races and maybe even the moon bounce. The other half of the class will include activities such as soccer, basketball, kickball and more.
Join us for this new offering that focuses on improving gross motor skills and starting healthy habits early for children 3-5 years. Children will participate in various activities including tumbling, sports, games and stretching.

Parent and Child Gym and Swim Classes
Enjoy time with your child in the preschool gym and the pool! Spend part of the class playing with your child on our preschool gym apparatus under the direction of Y staff member. The other part of class is in our parent/child swim class, helping your child, under the coaching of a swim instructor, to learn how to swim, have fun and be safe in the water.
Parent and tot work as a team in this socialization class. Finger play, music, crafts, touch-book stories, seasonal activities and parties are included. Games, activities and puppets are introduced to enhance color and word recognition, improve listening skills and encourage child to verbalize. Balls, hoops and parachutes help us to develop large motor skills. Parent will provide snack once each session. Off-site field trip may occur once each session.
If your toddlers have a lot of energy, come help us tire them out with the YMCA staff.The parents and the staff will play different sports, P.E. games, and tumbling that involve so many different activities all while having fun and being safe. This class consists of sports-specific drills, plyometrics and conditioning concepts from a variety of sports. The goal of this class is to provide a comprehensive conditioning program for the recreational athlete as well as provide supplemental training to the collegiate, high school and middle school athlete. This class is not recommended for any person with known health concerns or recent injuries as established by the AHA and ACSM guidelines.
Looking for a safe action packed place for your child in the afternoon? Bring them to the YMCA! Tier afternoons will be filled with games, crafts, science experiments, and even homework time if you want it! Rock climbing will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays; swimming will be on Mondays. Get your kids moving in our Home School Physical Education Program. This program is aimed at giving participants as close to a “Gym Class” as possible while still remaining flexible to meet the needs of the group. We will focus on one sport per month. Sports include but are not limited to volleyball, basketball, soccer, football, floor hockey and climbing. We also offer a light aquatics class on Fridays. Class can be taken 1, 2 or 3 days a week with a discount for all three days.
