American Red Cross Lifeguard Training

Learn the skills and knowledge required to become a lifeguard, including how to recognize, prevent and respond quickly to aquatic emergencies. Learn CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Oxygen Administration and First Aid. Participants will receive certifications after attending all class sessions, passing all written exams, water skills and tests. Prerequisites: Participant must be 15 years of age or older, ability to pass pretest. (pretest consists of: 500-yard swim using front crawl with rhythmic breathing and also using the breast stroke without stopping) Participant must also swim 20 yards using either stroke, perform a surface dive and retrieve a ten pound brick in 10 feet of water and then return the brick 20 yards. Lifeguard and first aid certifications are valid for 3 years. CPR-Pro, AED and Oxygen Administration certifications are valid for one year.
