Buehler YMCA is proud to offer a new year-round play-based Full Day Preschool Program that provides care and education from 7am to 6pm Monday-Friday. Our Preschool Programs encourage children to explore their environment as they develop creativity, problem-solving, and skills related to cognitive, physical, and social/emotional growth. Students are introduced to literacy through a phonemic approach that includes the Jolly Phonics curriculum as well as math, science, and social studies concepts taught through hands-on activities. Additionally, children in our Full Day Preschool Program participate in special activities including music, games and fitness activities in the gym, and swim lessons taught by instructors in our Aquatics Department each week.

Trained early childhood educators undergo continual professional development to ensure best practices are being used in the classroom. Teachers utilize the centers method of small-group instruction, and the curriculum is based on the Illinois Early Learning Standards. Our Preschool Programs are also licensed by DCFS.

To be eligible for Full Day Preschool, students must be between 3 and 5 years old and potty trained. Children may enroll at any time assuming there are openings available. Full Day Preschool does not operate on major holidays including New Year?s Eve, New Year?s Day, Memorial Day, the 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day.
